Mother's Day Celebration in Resorts World Genting, Malaysia

Mother's job is full time 24/7,  with unlimited resources such as love, care, commitment, inspiration and the list goes on.... On 14th May, last sunday, it is mother's day celebration with many trying to take mums out for lunch, dinner or a short trip to make it a memorable day. I am very happy to be able to spend this year's mother's Day at 6000 feet high up in the sky at Sky Avenue at Resorts World Genting, Genting Highlands, thanks to the invitation from Irene, Resorts World Genting.

A lot of happenings and changes have been going on at Resorts World Genting recently. I am glad to be able to go up to Genting experience these new exciting things. On this special occasion, we, mothers were first given a Glass Gondola ride from Awana Station. We were then feted with lunch, tea and also join the single mothers from Raub, Pahang for a mob performance and the special ceremony where Datin Paduka Chew grace this mother's day occasion and gave out hampers to the single mothers.

Genting has a new fleet of gondolas and 5 special Glass Gondola where there is a glass bottom for you to enjoy the flora fauna directly underneath you. There are USB power port inside the gondola where you can recharge your mobile if you run out of power from taking photos of all these beautiful sceneries.

No need to queue for the gondola tickets, now you can buy from the self service ticketing kiosks. Here is the screen I snap for your reference.

Upon reaching Sky Avenue, I was impressed views and the decor of LED lightings.

This group of tourists from China were so happy posing for photos.

There are now many outlets for shopping  at this new sky avenue such as Padini Concept Store, Giordano, Timberland, Kaufmann, Adidas, Bonia, Tissot, L'occitane En Provence, Austin Reed, Clarks, Tomei, Poh Kong, Charles & Keith, Opulence, Pandora, Machines, Samsung and restaurants such as Richdad, Gindaco, Tampopo, Dragon-I, Motorino, Madam Kwan's, Street Churros, Babajia, BMS Organics, Absolute Thai, I Love Yoo, San Francisco Coffee, Zok House noodles, Kam's Kitchen just to name a few. There are at Level 1, level 3 and Level 4. Oh yes, there's the Malaysian Food Street a food court but it's non halal.

My sponsored meal for mother's day lunch it at Babajia, at Level 1, T2-16 just around the main concourse at Sky Avenue.

Babajia is Baba Nyonya restaurant, check out the menu and prices at my other blog post here. For a simple lunch or dinner, just order either a fish or chicken plus cincalok egg and vegetables would be suffice (chicken+vege+egg = RM60 and if fish+vege+egg=RM80). The portions are big and there are lots of meat and no doubt with the baba nyonya flavors in it. My highly recommended would be cincalok egg and asam fish.

Mother's Day celebration kicks off with at 4 pm after the children and single mother's lunch at Resort Steamboat and and outing at the Snow World.

Single mothers and children, media and invited guests together with Datin Paduka Chew later enjoyed tea form the kind sponsors of Gindaco, Madame Waffle, Gong Cha, Tokyo Secret, Inside Scoop and Just Heavenly.

Just Heavenly is a cafe that offers desserts and cake and also other main dishes. A Hi-Tea set at Just Heavenly costs RM78. Durian cake at Just Heavenly is aromatic, moist and flavorful.

Gindaco is Japan's No.1 Premium Takoyaki with big octopus inside. Gindaco serves four variants of octopus balls (Takoyaki) : Original, Negidako, Cheese Mentaiko and Teritama.

Plain honey waffle, thick and chewy without ice cream

Madame Waffle is Japanese-style quick-service cafe' that offers artisan waffles, specialty coffees and teas.

Inside scoop - an ice-cream parlor that makes ice cream by hand, with no artificial flavorings or preservatives.

I am highly recommend the Nutella waffle from Inside Scoop as it is crispy and soft medium texture. The above is with added pistachio ice cream and hazelnut ice cream.

Tokyo Secret serves Japanese cheese tarts and ice-cream using ingredients imported from Japan. Tokyo Secret has been my top favourite cheese tart among other cheese tart and I having buying it from 1 Utama since it first start business especially whenever I go for movies at GSC in 1 Utama.

I am happy to see it in Sky Avenue here in RWG. The price here at Genting is RM9.90 for one hanjuku flavor cheese tart and for matcha and hazelnut it is RM10.90. The cheese cake is RM29 per box of 5.

There are other eateries and restaurants as well as branded outlets now and there's more to come.
There is also the new Sky Casino for those who want to try their luck. Why not take a short holiday or a day trip to Sky Avenue now with the new gondola and to get away from the heat in Kuala Lumpur. There are GoGenting Bus with departs from KL Sentral, Pudu Sentral, One Utama and Pekeliling station to go from Kuala Lumpur to Awana Station and then you can take the gondola to Sky Avenue.

My this year's Mother's day outing in Resort World Genting is indeed an enjoyable one. My friends, their mothers and the single mothers who were there, had an enjoyable time and went home with a very full stomach.
