This The Owls Cafe in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur is packed with long queues. Why? Seems in Japan, Owl Cafe is the latest trend of "cute cafes". Cat Cafe which is popular a few years back is being replaced by Owl Cafe now.
In Japan, there are real life owls where you can actually touch it and have selfie with it on your shoulder or wrist. How about this The Owls Cafe in Bukit Jalil? Oh yes, there are lots of decorations with owls figurines in the shop. Tea comes in tea pots with the shape of owls.
There is this one hanging from the ceiling, but its not a real life owl.
Hmm... "owls" sitting on branches of the tree and people below busy using the WIFI playing games or texting away!
Then there is this drawing of owl staring at you. Ok, no real owls. But this cafe is so popular! It must be this flower shaped waffle then.
The price for the waffle is on the high side. This Queen Waffle costs RM21.00.
This David waffle is RM18.00 and I heard it is the tastiest among the others such as Rebecca Waffle, Milo Dinosaur and The Classic. Choices of optional add ons are available with extra cost.
Friends told me the coffee here is not bad. I ordered the Nutty Latte as shown above, it tastes good.
When I was in Australia, plain water is served free of charge (FOC). But in Malaysia, sometimes we are obliged to order drinks or a glass of plain water (mineral water or sky juice) which may cost between RM0.50 - RM1.00. Therefore, when I see this bottle of plain drinking water on the table, I realised the trend of supply FOC water is catching up in Kuala Lumpur. Good, let's hope more restaurants and cafes will follow so that we don't have to pay for plain drinking water anymore.
This is the queues along the steps on a Saturday afternoon. The Owls Cafe is on the first floor, space seems a bit small and narrow. Moreover with some customers who would just sit for hours chatting or so engrossed in their handphones, there is no surprise that sometimes queues can take up to 2 hours.
